   1. How do CRTs work? What kind of radiation do they emit?
CRTs (Video Display Terminals) emit various EMF (Electro - Magnetic Field) frequencies. The specific frequencies vary for each CRT type. Emissions generally consist of pulsed VLF (Very Low Frequencies) electric and magnetic fields from 10kHz to 30kHz and pulsed ELF (Extremely Low Frequencies) electric and magnetic fields from 60Hz to 75Hz. Scientific observation has led some to believe that the ELF magnetic field is the dominant wave form given off by CRTs and that ELF magnetic fields are CRTs' most dangerous radiation. See Macworld, July 1990, for an excellent explanation of how CRTs work. [1]

   2. I have been using a computer for years and I feel fine. How do I know if there is a problem? I even heard the World Health Organization and the American Medical Association state there was no problem.
Just as it took decades to develop a scientific consensus that smoking was dangerous, CRT radiation problems will be disputed for a long time. Many people smoke for years before they develop undeniable problems, but this delay does not prove smoking is safe.
Not everyone is or will be affected by CRT radiation in the same way. Depending on many factors, including health, some people are very sensitive to radiation, while some remain seemingly unaffected. Furthermore there are periods when people are more vulnerable than others.
Laboratory tests appear to indicate that living matter is most sensitive to EMF radiation during periods of rapid cell-splitting. [2] Pulsed EMF radiation is used in hospitals to stimulate rapid bone growth in people based on techniques developed with animals. [3] This positive use of EMF radiation is consistent with the view that people may be more vulnerable during rapid cell-splitting periods like healing, pregnancy/gestation, birth through puberty, reproduction related cycles (e.g. sperm development and menstrual cycles), etc.
When exposed to CRT radiation, different living matter may be affected in different ways, both as groups and individuals. For example, white rats exposed to CRT radiation all experienced loss of fertility and reduced weight gain. None of the rats died during the test, while fruit flies, which have a much shorter life cycle, experienced a significant increase in mortality rates. And while the mortality rate for fruit flies increased, not all fruit flies died. Similarly, people as a group should react differently than other biological groups, and people as individuals may exhibit differing reactions to EMF radiation. [4]
Many professional CRT users (4 to 8 hours daily) report improved productivity, lower fatigue, less sleeplessness, reduced skin problems, fewer headaches, more normal hormonal balance, etc, a few days, weeks or months after beginning using EMF-Bioshield® protection (depending on the health of the users and the amount of radiation to which they are exposed).
Government and industry entities like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Medical Association (AMA) are conservative by design and therefore are often slow to acknowledge problems. This is likely to remain the case as long as there are no measuring device capable of detecting these harmful radiation.[5]

   3. What about other sources of ELF and VLF/EMF radiation? Why could CRTs be more dangerous than other electrical appliances?
Above all, CRTs are more dangerous because of the proximity and duration of their use. Effects of EMF, whether from power lines or CRTs, decrease with the square of the distance from their source.
All electricity generates EMF radiation, but there are important considerations concerning EMF radiation emitted by CRTs:
   (1) CRT users are generally close to CRTs for extended periods of time (computers, TVs, video games);
   (2) Computer CRT effects on biological systems have to the best of our knowledge never been tested except in tests funded by S.E.I.C. (see “ [6]
   (3) Cellular experiments indicate that particular pulsed EMF frequencies and signal strengths can be dangerous, while other similar, but stronger frequencies, may be safe. [7]
Unlike most EMF sources, CRTs generate pulsed (i.e. on-off, on-off...) EMF and multiple frequencies simultaneously. Pulsed EMF affect cells which are in close proximity to the source of the pulsed field. Pulsed EMF are used to promote bone healing in humans (although they are emitted in short micro-pulses rather than in a continuous stream for several hours.) [8], [9]

   4. Why does EMF-Bioshield® stop working after 24 months?
The most likely theory is that, like metal fatigue, combinations of molecules experience sudden degradation after a certain time period.

   5. Can the EMF-Bioshield® bulbs be moved from screen to screen?
Yes. A sticky pad and velcro systems allows one to remove and install the mini-bulbs from one screen to another. Great care must be paid to the correct positioning, i.e. mini-bulb "A" in the upper left corner of the screen frame, and mini-bulb "B" in the lower right corner (see Q&A 12. below). It is best to transport the EMF-Bioshield® bulbs in their original aluminum container, using the aluminum ingot to separate the "A" and "B" bulbs, otherwise they would weaken and ultimately render each other useless.

   6. Is there a system to more permanently attach EMF-Bioshield® so they are harder to remove? This would help with theft and the risk of “children swallowing” problems.
Yes. Use a self-sticking pad reinforced on both sides with glue or directly glue the EMF-Bioshield® with a neoprene-based glue.

   7. Do the bulbs attach in a particular way ?
Yes. It is imperative that the "A" bulb is attached to the upper left corner of the CRT frame and the "B" bulb to the lower right corner. The bulbs' efficacy depends on a clear line of sight between the "A" and "B" bulbs' centers and nothing should be placed between the bulbs. EMF-Bioshield® extenders are available for those few CRTs with convex screens which block this line of sight. This arrangement is important because CRT screens refresh their images (60 to 75 times a second) with a series of electron beams which begin in the upper left screen corner and end in the lower right corner (in a typewritten pattern). EMF-Bioshield®'s resonance timing is critical and reversing the bulbs eliminates their effectiveness. In fact switching the position of the "A" and "B" bulbs could increase the harmful effects of the screen by causing an "in-phase" resonance rather than a counterphase resonance. The bulbs should be attached on the CRT frame, as close as possible to the screen, but not on the screen.

   8. Are other companies worried about CRT dangers? If they are, what are they doing?
Many companies are worried and are actively seeking solutions. [10] Macworld magazine staffers have been reported to use keyboard extender wiring in order to sit further than arm's length from their screens. [11] However, increasing the distance one sits from the screen is not the solution because it causes either increased fatigue for the eyes or the need for larger screen. Larger screens in turn increase the problem because the range of harmful impacts is related to the length of the screen diagonal. Given the U.S. Consumer Protection Act, manufacturers are concerned but reluctant to take action pending establishment of government standards or more definitive evidence that CRTs impose health risks. Government radiation standards, however, are geared to Geiger counter-type measurements and electric, electromagnetic or electrostatic fields meters, not biological testing, and changes may be years away. [12] In the absence of government standards, CRT manufacturers face confusing choices. [13]

   9. Will EMF-Bioshield® harm my children or me if we swallow the bulbs or if they leak?
Ingesting any solid body such as plastic bulbs can be harmful, but the liquid in the bulbs is completely non-toxic.

   10. Why is EMF-Bioshield® packaged in an aluminum tube? What does the metal disk between the bulbs do?
The aluminum tube blocks some EMF radiation, thereby reducing EMF-Bioshield®'s propensity to resonate with background radiation. The aluminum disk reduces the propensity of the bulbs to mutually resonate. If EMF-Bioshield® is delivered to users within 12 months of its manufacture and is used normally, it has an effective life of two years.

   11. Can the EMF-Bioshield® bulbs break?
The bulbs' exterior is made of plastic. Because EMF-Bioshield®'s chemical formula is suspended in a water vehicle like many medicines, the formula will freeze and boil at approximately the same temperatures as water. To prevent leaks, the bulbs must be protected from freezing (below 32 degrees F / 0 degree C) and severe heat (140 degrees F / 60 degrees C- and above). They are shockproof and can fall to the ground without suffering any damage as long as they are not submitted to any sort of mechanical pressure.

   12. Does EMF-Bioshield® affect background EMF? Is it activated by other waves?
Initial results of tests conducted to evaluate this matter indicate that the EMF-Bioshield® protective effect extends into an invisible bubble-like protective field of about 2.1 feet in radius.

   13. Are there other products that do what EMF-Bioshield® does?
We are not aware of any other products which have proven their efficacy against the harmful effects of cathode-tube screens on the basis of rigorous scientific testing. To our knowledge, no other device has been as thoroughly tested and validated (by 4 international scientific organizations) as well as extensively reported (12 abstracts reports* and 5 proceedings reports** of 3 mainstream international organizations*).

   14. Does CRT radiation cause miscarriages, birth defects, depression, etc.?
Scientists disagree about the impact of CRT radiation, although many suspect their existence. It may be decades before a broad consensus develops. The general consensus at this time is the fact that if there is an impact on people from CRTs, it decreases with distance to become practically innocuous when reaching the equivalent of 8 times the diagonal of the screen. [14]

   15. Will EMF-Bioshield® prevent miscarriages, birth defects, depression, etc.?
The results of experiments conducted with CRTs without EMF-Bioshield® protection show an increased mortality in fruit flies, a loss of weight and fertility in white laboratory rats, a 60% increase in congenital malformations or premature deaths in chick embryos exposed only 5 days, and changed desiccation characteristics in fungi. Animals exposed to EMF-Bioshield®-protected CRTs show none of these results and function like those not exposed to CRTs at all. Whether these tests results may be used to infer with certainty human reactions to CRTs must await further studies and clinical research.

   16. How effective is EMF-Bioshield® against CRT radiation?
Biological tests consistently show that living matter is not affected by CRT radiation when protected by EMF-Bioshield® (by a ratio close to 100%.)

   17. Do results of tests on flies, rats and chick embryos relate to human health risks?
The application of animal tests results to human health is not perfect. Biologists traditionally rely on this form of testing to provide strong indications of results which may be expected to occur in a real world human population (80% of drugs are tested this way before being applied to humans).

   18. Have tests been performed on people?
A German test of EMF-Bioshield® was patterned after a 1984 Swedish study where adrenalin pattern differences were found in urinalysis comparisons of CRT users versus office workers who didn't use CRTs. The Germans found that CRTs affect human adrenaline patterns and EMF-Bioshield® mitigates these effects. Two other sets of tests conducted with EMF-Bioshield® in the Ukraine have shown that the ability to resist fatigue and other ailments affecting CRT users adversely affected by the Chernobyl disaster was restored among the ones protected with EMF-Bioshield®.

   19. Who developed the EMF-Bioshield® technology?
EMF-Bioshield® was developed by a S.E.I.C. team after ten years of research and experiments. SEIC's laboratory is qualified ISO 9001 for reseaarch, development and production.

   20. How do I know that EMF-Bioshield® is working?
S.E.I.C. tests each production run of EMF-Bioshield®. All the EMF-Bioshield® formula in each run comes from the same batch of mixed ingredients.

   21. I have never heard of "counterphase radiation". Has anyone else ever used the "counterphase" approach?

Counterphase effects can sometimes be heard when two audio speakers are operating on opposite sides of a room and producing pure sounds of low frequency (say 100Hz). If you switch the polarity (connecting wires) on one of the speakers, the sound is briefly, but noticeably reduced for listeners standing midway between the speakers. Older amplifiers sometimes were outfitted with phase switches. CAUTION: manually switching speakers while stereo is on could damage the amplifier. [15]

   22. Scientists tell me that if you can't measure a radiation change with a meter, there is no change. Why should I believe EMF-Bioshield® works?
There have been many examples of health impacts scientists could prove occur, but could neither explain nor measure. Society routinely uses solutions which lack perfect explanation or measurability. Aspirin has been in use for 80 years to relieve headaches while no one knew exactly how it worked. The reception centers in the brain on which it operates were only identified in the early 1980's.
In 1896, Henri Becquerel in France discovered the natural radioactivity of uranium salts. This discovery was questioned for decades by scientists who couldn't measure anything with the instruments available to them. As a result, hundreds of French and Swiss watch factory workers died from mouth cancer because they would paint watch arms with radioactive phosphorous and lick their brushes to thin the tips. Many scientists refused to acknowledge a radiation risk existed until the Geiger Counter was invented in 1932, 36 years later...
It may be decades before counterphase resonator effects are fully understood. S.E.I.C. believes that the consistent biological results of the tests conducted to date more than justify using EMF-Bioshield®, whether one understands and accepts or not the theory on which its development and action are based. In the meantime, caution is in order.
